PE tarpaulins come in a range of specification to meet different needs, such as weave fabric, mil thickness, coating film, density, and GSM, etc. But the most important parameter is GSM(gram/square meter, or oz/square yard), our mainly GSM range are from 40gsm to 450gsm.
You can read this article to know more about PE tarpaulins specification.
You need three parameters to describe a tarpaulin: Width, Length, and GSM.
For example, a tarpaulin sheet as “Width x Length x GSM.” For example, 6m x 6m x 220gsm tarpaulin sheet means the tarpaulin sheet width is 6m, the length is 6m, and the weight is 220gsm.
There are hundreds of tarpaulin sizes, GSM, and colors available, we just listed some popular on the website. If you don’t not find what you need, please send an email to: info@roctarps.com, we would be happy to assist you.
Are poly tarps waterproof? That’s a very popular question, most poly tarps are waterproof because the laminated film layers of polyethylene are naturally waterproof.
“Water resistant” tarps will keep out splashes and sprays of water, but they won’t do well against puddles or pools.
“Water repellent” isn’t often used in the tarp world, though you’ll still come across it from time to time. It generally means the tarp is better at resisting water and takes longer (or larger volumes) for water to soak through. But it can still get through.
“Waterproof” describes a tarp that entirely keeps water out, even if that water pools up.
There are genuinely too many applications for poly tarps in industries and commercials. They are in particular extremely useful for all manner of short-term and long-term projects.
Here are a few applications:
You can use PE tarpaulins to protect your supplies from the elements while working on a building or construction project around your sites.
Protecting lawn furniture from weather
PE tarpaulin is made of polyethylene plastic material and is light in weight, clean, and pollution-free.
PVC tarpaulin is polyester filament base cloth and double-sided coating with vinyl paste resin.
In comparison to PVC tarps, poly tarps are available in different weights. A poly tarp is relatively better than a PVC tarp when it comes to waterproofing ability. PVC tarps are commonly utilized for covering tents, vehicles, and trucks and as bed liners in trucks. Due to its sturdiness and strength, PVC tarps are used for heavy-duty agricultural and industrial work. On the other hand, poly tarps are suitable for daily and temporary uses.
If you are looking for a cost-effective tarp for daily and temporary uses, you can be assured that the PE tarpaulin is the best option. Compared to other types of tarps, including PVC, poly tarps are less expensive. That’s one of the main reasons for them to have universal applications.

HDPE tarpaulins are high-density polyethylene tarpaulins, which are made from premium quality woven HDPE fabric laminated with LDPE on both sides. There are various qualities and thicknesses available which are made using multiple layers of HDPE sandwiched between layers of LDPE on the outside. These types of tarpaulins are very rugged and are most suited for applications where there is a great deal of wear and tear.

Most poly tarps are waterproof because the laminated film layers of polyethylene is naturally waterproof.
Poly tarps are typically made of multiple layers with a woven mesh fabric sandwiched between two or more polyethylene sheets. Polyethylene is the same material used in cables, pipes, and molded containers. There are many factories that manufacture their tarps with recycled plastics for their customers. However, our PE tarpaulin products are made from virgin polyethylene materials not recycled plastic material.
Poly tarps are made of polyethylene which is more durable, stronger, and have a more waterproof ability as compared to other types of material like canvas.
PE tarpaulins are more lightweight and allow shade from the sun while still being breathable, due to small holes constructed between the woven fabrics. It allows moisture, air, and sunlight to pass through. Polyethylene tarpaulins have more UV ray resistance than other traditional tarps which are made of polyester, canvas, nylon, and polypropylene.
Poly tarps can block up to 90% of the UV rays if have UV-treated chemical treatment while manufacturing, it will help protect against degradation of the poly tarp from UV rays, but the cost will rise up.
There are many different types of poly tarps in our PE tarpaulin lines,
